On Monday, June 29, a dedication ceremony was held to officially open the Museum of Faith. The museum was constructed in the foyer between the tabernacle and headquarters office.

The service began with a welcome by Sola Adesope. He stated that the museum was created to preserve the Apostolic Faith heritage and inspire future generations. It is dedicated to the glory of God and for the edification of His people. He specially welcomed guests representing previous leaders and those who have helped to carry the Gospel work for many years. Gary Riler led the group in two verses of the hymn, “The Church’s One Foundation,” accompanied by a brass ensemble. Then Darrel Lee led a prayer, thanking God for the privilege to attend this dedication and the legacy of faith represented.

Brother Sola acknowledged the team who brought the vision of this museum to life. Kim Habre, who spearheaded the effort, was especially honored, along with her team of Karen Barrett and Catey Hinkle. Sister Karen then shared personal reflections on the completion of this project. She noted that her connection with the Apostolic Faith Church began over one hundred years ago, when her grandfather traveled to Portland from Washington State to investigate Florence Crawford’s work. He immediately determined to move his family here, saying, “There’s enough power in this place to change the world.” He helped to construct the tabernacle building, and because of his choice, Sister Karen, her children, and her grandchildren continue to serve the Lord in the Apostolic Faith Church. She expressed her appreciation of all of the Gospel pioneers, and those who have arrived since. Her desire, and that of the rest of the creative team, is that the museum be a source of encouragement and inspiration to all who visit.

Bill McKibben read Psalm 48:12-14, and then Brother Sola gave the dedication address. He said this was “a moment to open and dedicate this Museum of Faith. A place where memory meets mission. Where history inspires faith and courage. And where the story of God’s people is preserved for generations yet unborn.” Further, he said, “Let us dedicate this museum to the glory of God, praying that it will stand as a beacon of truth and a testimony of God’s faithfulness throughout all ages.”

Earl Phillips, who at the age of ninety-six is one of the church's most senior veteran ministers, prayed the prayer of dedication. Then, Brother Sola cut the ribbon across the entrance to the museum, officially opening it.

The crowd of attendees filed through the museum for a first look, but because of the crowd, there was not nearly enough time to see all the museum has to offer. Attendees were encouraged to make repeat visits to enjoy and absorb each display!
