During the morning service on Mother’s Day, the congregation honored mothers and celebrated the influence of godly women in the home. The service opened with a four-hand piano prelude by Kristi Riler and Sungun Yune, featuring “He Keeps Me Singing,” and then the choir sang “Prayer for Mother’s Day.” Later, pastor Dave Lambert invited all mothers to stand as the congregation applauded them. For mothers who had babies during the past year, a special gift was given, which included children’s Bibles and activity books from the “Laugh and Grow” series.
Special music was provided by Jillian Luka and her sons, Marcus and Carter, who sang “I Go to the Rock.” For the final special, the choir sang “He Is Our Peace” with “Cares Chorus.” Brother Dave brought the morning message, reading from Hebrews 11:23-27. He highlighted the faith of Moses’ parents, especially the courage of his mother, Jochabed, who protected him during a dangerous time and trusted God with his future. The congregation was reminded that Jochabed acted in faith, doing all she could to protect Moses while trusting God to care for him beyond what she could do. Her example showed that faith is not passive, but acts while depending upon God. Brother Dave also spoke about how God’s love and care for His children is reflected through the love of a mother. Isaiah 46:3-4 speaks of God’s care for His children from the womb into old age, paralleling a mother’s lifelong care for her own children.
The service ended with an invitation to pray, after which flowers were given to all the mothers in the congregation.
