The annual youth end-of-summer picnic began at 6:00 p.m. in Brentwood Park on Saturday, September 6. Shortly after everyone arrived, Erik Calhoun led the young people in a prayer over the greatly anticipated food and fellowship that was to follow. The evening’s meal was prepared by RodTarpo and Jon Barrett, assisted by a crew of smiling servers, and much thanks was given to them for the appetizing dinner. It consisted of carne asada served over buttery baked potatoes, and garnished with sour cream, green onions, creamy queso, guacamole, and tortilla chips. After that, everyone was served a fresh cinnamon-peach milkshake. The vote was unanimous: everything was delicious!
Following the meal, the youth partook in a time of fellowship. They could participate in volleyball, spikeball, or just enjoy good conversations. Before the evening was over, the young people gathered for a group photo to commemorate the fun time they'd had that evening. Overall, it was a great way for the youth to catch up and reconnect after a very eventful summer.
