On Monday evening, June 29, the Apostolic Faith Church choir and orchestra presented the 2026 Midsummer Concert. Themed "Hallelujah," the beautiful evening of sacred and classical music was a special 120th anniversary celebration.

The first half of the program featured inspiring performances from smaller ensembles and the string section. The evening opened with the brass and percussion playing “The Star-Spangled Banner,” then performing Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man.” A ladies’ choir followed with an a cappella rendition of “Hallelujah.”  The ladies choir also performed the Appalachian Gospel song “Ain't No Grave Gonna Hold My Body Down,” which included Sierra Luka and several other ladies translating the lyrics into sign language. Next, the brass and organ combined for an arrangement of Handel’s “Hallelujah, Amen” from “Judas Maccabaeus.” A men’s choir then delivered a beautiful four-part arrangement of “It Is Well With My Soul,” followed by the traditional spiritual “Glory, Glory, Hallelujah,” featuring soloist Marcus Luka. Concluding the first half, the string orchestra played John Rutter’s “Suite for Strings,” showcasing traditional British melodies.

Following intermission, the full symphony orchestra and sanctuary choir presented a collection of musical numbers. The second half opened with the lively energy of Aaron Copland’s “Hoe-Down” from “Rodeo,” performed by the symphony orchestra. The sanctuary choir then sang Elaine Hagenberg’s “Alleluia” and the traditional spiritual “Witness.” The symphony orchestra returned to play Tchaikovsky’s dramatic and victorious “March Slav” which was followed by an enthusiastic standing ovation from the crowd. For the grand finale, the choir and accompaniment orchestra joined to present George Frideric Handel’s beloved “Hallelujah Chorus” from “Messiah.” Following tradition, the audience rose to its feet as the first “Hallelujah” rang out, and stood throughout the piece.

At the end of the music presentation, Sola Adesope thanked music director Gary Riler and the choir and orchestra for using their time and God-given talents for the Lord. The “Hallelujah” theme and joyful concert anticipated an eternal celebration in Heaven!
