This month’s Youth Focus was well received by the young people; many especially enjoyed the dinner, with some even calling it one of the best Youth Focus meals they’ve ever had. The meal featured sweet-savory Korean bulgogi beef served over rice, topped with a fried egg and a colorful mix of fresh vegetables, and included a side of Filipino Lumpia with sweet and sour dip.

As much as they loved the fellowship and dinner with friends, they also enjoyed growing in the knowledge of Christ. The lesson was on 1 Corinthians, and everyone had been encouraged to prepared for a “Bible Bowl.” The concept was simple: two teams competed in a game of Bible trivia. Erik Calhoun asked questions about a specific chapters or verses in 1 Corinthians, and representatives from each team rushed to answer first. Some questions were easy, some were more difficult. A few examples include: “In chapter 15, what did Paul say cannot inherit the kingdom of God?” “Who are the teachers Paul mentioned in chapter 1?” And, “Who did Paul say not to keep company with in chapter 5?” Teams were allowed to help their representatives find the answer, which led to a very fun, albeit chaotic game. It was a test of Bible knowledge and speed, and one of the most enjoyable Youth Focus games ever. Each question reminded the young people of the messages of 1 Corinthians, encouraging reflection on their walks with the Lord.

Near the end of the evening, Brother Erik gave a short word of encouragement about different revivals throughout the years, and pointed out that still today, everyone needs the deeper Christian experiences. They are available to all who follow the Lord.
