The Father’s Day Sunday morning service began with a piano and organ duet, then the choir sang a “Call to Worship” medley which included “All Creatures of Our God and King,” “Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above,” and “O Worship the King.” Congregational singing featured hymns about the Heavenly Father and concluded with “How Great Thou Art.” David Lambert welcomed the audience, and extended special thanks to all of the fathers in attendance.

After prayer, a vocal trio consisting of Maria Green and Gary and Kristi Riler sang “Because God Is Holy.” As the final special before the sermon, Sarah Asaya sang a beautiful solo, “He Giveth More Grace.”

Brother Dave brought the morning message from Proverbs 4:1-5. He spoke of how fathers have an important role in the home, demonstrated in these verses—to protect, to instruct, and to provide. Godly fathers fulfill these responsibilities with the Lord’s help. He shared that God created us to bring Him glory. He created Adam and Eve, whom He then walked and talked with in the Garden of Eden. He loved them and desired a close relationship with them, and He desires the same of people today.

To become a child of God, as highlighted in John 1:12 and 2 Corinthians 6:17-18, one must make the choice to believe and receive His salvation. Everyone can be a child of God and receive the spirit of adoption, as promised in Romans 8:15. Those who do so can abide in the shadow of the Almighty. Brother Dave reminded the congregation of what it is like as children to try to walk in a parent’s shadow, noting that it is necessary to stay close.

In an appeal to any unsaved, Brother Dave referenced the parable of the Prodigal Son. When the son returned, even when he was a great distance off, the father ran to him and welcomed him home. For any prodigals in the congregation, Brother Dave said that even one who feels far from God needs only to turn God's way, and He will bridge the distance.
