The day of special meetings youth activities began with a trip to the Corn Maize on Sauvie Island. On the drive there, the beauty of the fall colors was evident, giving everyone a chance to admire God's creation. Upon arrival, the young people enjoyed all that autumn offers, from pumpkins and corn to an assortment of delicious treats. The festivities concluded with a group photo, commemorating yet another year of this fun annual tradition.
In the evening, everyone regathered for a Youth Focus session in the Fellowship Lodge, which was beautifully decorated for fall. Upon entering, the young people were treated to a wonderful meal. Dinner featured smash bacon cheeseburgers cooked to perfection, served alongside a fresh salad and, of course, tater tots with fry sauce. The meal proved to be a massive hit.
After dinner, the group transitioned to the evening’s activity. The young people were randomly divided into groups, and each group was instructed to prepare and perform a skit based on a Bible story. The performances were evaluated by a panel of judges. Each skit offered its own unique interpretation, creativity, and humor, bringing the young people together in a bit of friendly competition. Beyond the competition itself, the evening provided a wonderful opportunity to work together, strengthen friendships, and enjoy one another’s creativity.
For the devotional portion of the evening, Li Arechy of Richmond, California, delivered a powerful and timely message on the importance of Christian endurance. He told the young people that when they encounter challenges in their walks of faith, they must never allow themselves to give up or to surrender to discouragement. He pointed to the ultimate example of endurance, Jesus Christ, who bore the weight of the world's sin and shame upon the Cross. Though He was ridiculed, berated, and beaten, Jesus endured it all because of His unfailing love for mankind. Brother Li said the Lord would never call people to a race that they could not finish, and that He has a purpose and a plan for each person. Christians must remain steadfast through every experience, continuing to walk by faith rather than by sight. Brother Li’s message served as a powerful reminder that no matter what difficulties people may face, God can help each one to press forward and endure to the end.
