“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.” – Matthew 9:35
Some years ago, a baby boy was born with serious medical problems. His bodily functions were not working correctly, and pediatricians gave his parents conflicting advice. The condition worsened for two years, and then he was taken to a large hospital where specialists were equipped to deal with unusual conditions. Emergency surgery was performed, which helped for a while, but soon his condition deteriorated and he underwent five more surgeries over the next year. Then one night, his parents called their church again, requesting prayer. Their little boy was too weak to even hold up his head, so his parents strapped him to his wheelchair with a pillow to rest his head on as they took him on a stroll through the hospital. As they walked, the father noticed a clock and thought, People are probably praying at the church for my son right now. Suddenly, the boy’s head snapped up off the pillow and he said, “Daddy, me walk!” His father untied him from the chair and turned him loose—he was completely healed!
One Sunday morning, a lady was kneeling in prayer. When she started to get up, she groaned with pain; her knee had been bothering her for some time and it was very swollen. The ministers anointed her with oil and prayed for her according to James 5:14, and she was also healed! The next Sunday, she testified that as the ministers prayed, she felt a warm feeling flow through her knee and later realized that the swelling and pain were gone.
We read that as Jesus went about preaching the Gospel, He healed “all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people” (Matthew 4:23). He made the lame to walk, caused the blind to see, and cleansed the leper. There was not one whom He was unable or unwilling to heal, and before He died, He was beaten in order to pay for all of our healings. That was over two thousand years ago, while the little boy who had five surgeries was healed close to fifty years ago, and the lady with the swollen knee was healed recently. Jesus is not limited by time or circumstances; He is able to heal any one of us today! Believe in His promise and goodness, and He will supply your need today as well.
