For many years my mother-in-law had a hunger for God. She attended numerous churches and special services that were held in her area, and eventually gave her life to the Lord and was truly saved. She was a happy Christian and found it easy to smile and praise the Lord. Yet, she had anything but an easy life. It seemed a shortage of income was always an issue, and her husband’s job working on farms moved the family to many locations. After several years, he left and completely abandoned his family, which included six children.

For over two years, the family had no regular income, and this was a very difficult time for them all. However, this wonderful Christian mother knew that God answered prayer. In times of need, she would slip into her room and pray, and God always provided the solution. Sometimes God answered with a bag of groceries, and sometimes the family was asked to do some work to earn money for their needs. Through it all, God gave the victory, and the children knew that God was real. My wife, the oldest of the six siblings, began to see that prayer worked and that God did answer. She gave her life to Christ when she was fourteen years old and has served Him for many years since.

We have a natural inclination to fear hardships like those my mother-in-law faced, but if we put our trust in God, there is nothing to fear! What can anyone do to us that God cannot overcome? Even in trials, He makes our lives beautiful, and often, He gives deliverance from the trials. This was the case with my mother-in-law. God supplied the needs of her family during their most difficult times, and eventually they had a steady income through government assistance and being able to work more. The family moved near an Apostolic Faith branch church, and she became a pillar in that congregation. She was a prayer warrior, and with the other ladies of the church, was part of some powerful prayer meetings. She served the Lord as a minister in our congregation for many years and was greatly respected. And near the end of his life, her husband was finally saved, a truly marvelous miracle.  

If our trust is in God, we have nothing to fear. He does hear our prayers and He wants to answer in wonderful ways. Let us remember not to fear circumstances, but to take every opportunity to let the Lord work in our lives.
