At 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, young people began filling the Fellowship Lodge with chatter, excitement, and enthusiasm. After a word of prayer, everyone lined up for dinner and plates were filled with a peppery roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, biscuits, and salad. To top it all off, there was ice cream and homemade hot apple pie for dessert.
Following the meal, the group played a short game to stretch their legs and test their reflexes. In the game, two people faced each other with a plastic cup placed on the ground between them. A caller gave everyone commands such as, “Touch your head” or “Touch your toes,” and randomly called out the critical word: “Cup!” Then everyone raced to grab the cup by their feet. Those who got the cup advanced to the next round and played again, until there was one final winner: Annika Ewers! Everyone had a great time.
For the study portion of the evening, the young people were divided into small groups and assigned a chapter of the Bible. Erik Calhoun asked them to search their chapters for information about the Rapture, and after discussing within the groups, a few representatives shared what they found. It was a great opportunity for the young people to learn what the Bible says about Jesus’ return, as well as to practice going directly to Scripture for answers to important questions. The evening closed with a time of prayer.
