The annual Ghana camp meeting was held August 23 to September 6 with the theme of “Surely, I Come Quickly.” The convention brought delegates from all fifty-six branch churches across Ghana as well as Benin Republic, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Togo, and the United States. Among the more than 1,700 in attendance were Director of East Asia Work Bill McKibben and his wife, Lori, along with West and Central Africa (WECA) District Superintendent Isaac Adigun and his wife, Stella.

A Minister and Worker Conference preceded the camp meeting on Friday, August 21. Joseph Ansah, the Ghana Country Leader, welcomed the participants and gave a devotional titled “All Gospel Workers Are Ministers.” Drawing from Numbers 3:5-6, he reminded the brethren that God is pleased by faithfulness rather than a person’s title. He further urged every worker to choose active service and live in readiness for the soon return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The conference featured a rich series of studies addressing pastoral ministry, youth development and mentorship, responsible use of social media, preservation of the Apostolic Faith heritage, evangelism, and good financial stewardship. In addition, there was a video message from Superintendent General Sola Adesope on “Organizational Identity.” He reminded workers that the Apostolic Faith Church is identified by its roots, doctrines, mission, and conduct. He urged workers to conduct themselves in a manner that honors God and directs attention to Jesus Christ. The conference was marked by a spirit of unity and commitment to serving God, and it closed with a prayer meeting.

The opening Sunday morning devotional service featured beautiful orchestral and choral renditions and greetings from brethren worldwide. The morning message was delivered by Brother Joseph who highlighted the camp theme: “Surely, I come quickly.” Taking his text from Revelation 22:20, he said Jesus would certainly come again, and the camp meeting was the best time to prepare for that event.

During the two weeks, Bible teachings were given each morning. The first teaching was offered by Brother Isaac on “Love Not the World.” Taking his opening texts from 1 John 2: 15-17 and Romans 12: 1-2, he noted that the things of this world are fleeting and will pass away. However, those who love and serve God will live eternally in Heaven. Other teachings included “Three Steps: The Foundational Christian Experiences,” “Importance of the Word of God,” “Building for Eternity,” “Christ’s Waiting Bride,” “The Essence of True Christianity,” and “Christian Inheritance.”

In the afternoons, youth services were held, and in the evenings, evangelistic services took place. Every meeting pointed hearts to the soon coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In addition to church services, other activities included a Minister and Spouse Meeting, a Marriage and Courtship Seminar, Seeker’s Night, a youth quiz and variety show, and a film presentation. The annual concert was also a highlight. It took place on Saturday, August 29, with the theme “He Is Coming.” Several dignitaries were in attendance including traditional rulers and government functionaries. The music featured choir numbers such as “Sing Unto God” and “See the Conquering Hero Comes.” There were also orchestra and instrumental pieces like “Di Yen Kan” (“Lead Us”). In addition, local airs were presented. Among these was “Anwanwasem Besisi” (“There Shall Be Wonders.”) A small skit at the end of the concert, titled “He Is Coming,” led many to pray fervently.

The Sunday devotional services were well attended and joyful. On the middle Sunday, Brother Bill preached the message. Taking his text from Genesis 12:1-5 and Hebrews 11:8-10, he reminded all that God desires to bless His children and to make them a blessing to others.

On the final Sunday, the devotional message was given by Okpo Johnson of the WECA Missions Department. He spoke on “My Presence Shall Go with Thee” based on Exodus 33:14. The congregation was admonished that the God Who brought them safely to the campground would return home with them. He would bless them, keep them from evil, resolve their problems, and give them peace. There were fervent prayers at the altars after the service.

By the close of the camp meeting, nearly 2,300 had reported receiving something from the Lord, including salvation, sanctification, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, divine healing, and more. The saints departed for their various locations with hearts full of gratitude for the blessings poured out and with renewed expectation of the Lord’s soon coming.
