Midwest Camp 2025 was held July 28 to August 2, and representatives came from Missouri, Arkansas, Georgia, Texas, New Jersey, Oregon, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Washington DC, Illinois, and this year, many from Canada. Superintendent General Sola Adesope and his wife, Tolu, were blessed to attend for the first time in twenty-two years, and they were thrilled with the growth represented by over two hundred campers.
The meetings were led by Jeff Downey, pastor of the church in St. Louis, Missouri. At the first service, which was a teaching, he read from Hebrews 10:23 and spoke on “The Purpose and Function of Apostolic Faith Church Services.” He outlined the beauty found in the order of Apostolic Faith church services, allowing the Spirit of God liberty to guide. Believers were implored to continue assembling and actively participating in Gospel services.
At other teachings during the week, Brother Sola taught from Romans 12:1-2 and encouraged everyone to be “a living sacrifice” and Charles Schleicher, the pastor in Madison, Wisconsin, spoke on the importance of separating oneself from the world. In the Wednesday teaching, District Superintendent of North America Bob Downey and his wife, Cheryl, were honored for their decades of service in the Midwest. Brother Bob conducted Midwest camp meetings for over twenty years, and as a token of thanks, Brother Sola acknowledged their labor, the impact they have had, and presented them with a gift on behalf of the church.
Midwest camp meeting and the Midwest youth camp have overlapping dates, so on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, the young people participated in youth camp activities while adults met for devotionals on the topic of the Ten Commandments. At an evangelistic service on Friday, Brother Bob took his text from two verses: Matthew 5:6 and Jeremiah 29:13. He urged all attendees to keep praying and to “PUSH”: Pray Until Something Happens.
In the evenings, evangelistic services were held, featuring music by soloists, ensembles, and choirs from all the branch churches represented. Many powerful testimonies were also shared, including a brother who related his story of a high-risk surgery that God had brought him through with amazing results. Another brother spoke of his health struggle over the last three years with kidney issues and was happy to report that a recent check showed God had answered prayer! A woman also spoke of God healing her paralyzed hand, and how she is once again able to play violin for the Lord.
Toward the end of camp, eight young people were baptized in water, and what a blessed time it was! The Lord provided cooler weather as everyone gathered around the candidates in prayer and familial support, with hearty amens echoing throughout the space.
The final service of 2025 Midwest Camp included Bluegrass-style music, including such favorites as “He Set me Free” and “Are you Washed in the Blood?” A special highlight was the testimony of a brother from New Jersey who was thrilled because his daughter was saved during this camp! For the closing message, Joshua Idowu, the pastor in Worth, Illinois, read from John chapter 6, challenging the group with Jesus’ words: “Will ye also go away?” Believers were reassured that the same God who saves is able to keep.
At Midwest Camp 2025, fellowship was pleasant and prolific, souls were made free through the Blood of Jesus, and many were fed through the Word. There was a clear hunger for more of God, evidenced by a rush to the altars at the altar calls, and those who came for a reviving surely went away satisfied.
