Tim DeBusk, Director of Eastern Caribbean Work, and his wife, Lisa, recently returned from the Dominican Republic where they visited several of our congregations. During the trip, they also attended the Day of Thanksgiving celebration held annually among our churches.

On Tuesday, January 20, they enjoyed an evening evangelistic service at El Brizal in Boca Chica. At the conclusion, following the altar call, everyone rejoiced as three prayed through to salvation!

The next day, they went to Santo Domingo for the “Día de Acción de Gracias” or “Day of Thanksgiving” service. It was held in a rented gymnasium with several hundred in attendance from throughout the Dominican Republic. This is a national holiday, which our churches choose to observe together. The event included music selections presented by choirs from various locations. One highlight was when a choir of about fifty children came in wearing matching red capes and sang. The closing message was given by Deivys Pichardo, the District Superintendent for the Dominican Republic, who encouraged all to pray. Many went forward at the invitation, praising, thanking, and seeking God together. Afterward, the DeBusk’s said they felt blessed to have the privilege of being with the saints in the Dominican Republic again.

On Thursday, January 22, the DeBusks attended an evening service in Sabana Perdida. This was the first time they had been to this location, and they enjoyed getting to know the saints there.

On Friday morning, they traveled to Consuelo to tour a church building that is under construction. Currently, the congregation meets in a rented facility, and they are looking forward to having their own permanent place of worship.

That evening, they attended an evangelistic service at Los Alcarrizos. During the testimonies, Brother Deivys’ mother thanked God for saving her at the age of sixteen and keeping her in the Gospel for many years. Also, for the blessing of seeing her children and grandchildren saved and serving Him.

The Sunday devotional service took place at the Samana church and included beautiful music as well as victorious testimonies and an inspiring sermon. The message was followed by a wonderful time of prayer.

The DeBusks returned home the next day, on January 26. They reported that despite many challenges, the Gospel work continues to thrive in the Dominican Republic. In the northern region alone, six churches have been started recently. They request prayer that God will continue to bless and grow the work there.
