This year’s Romania camp meeting was held August 1-8 at the Valea Lui Liman campsite in the foothills of the Poiana Rusca mountains. Campers gathered at the ten-acre property from our churches in Bucharest, Gottlob, Lovrin, Margaritesti, Motatei Sat, Teremia Mica, Timisoara, and Zadareni.  In addition, two from the United States attended: Joseph Buliga of Portland, Oregon, and Braxton Trotter of Chehalis, Washington.

The camp meeting was conducted by Gheorghe Macovei, who leads the Eastern region of our Romania work. On the first day, he welcomed everyone and introduced the camp theme of “The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit.” He also had some good news about the growth of the work: a church has been completed in Capu Dealului and another is under construction in Ghindeni.

During the week, chapel services were held under an awning with a beautiful outdoor setting as the backdrop. The congregational singing was led by Rebekah Silea who also arranged for several music specials to be shared in each service. These included vocal solos, duets, and ensembles accompanied by keyboard, guitar, or accordion. Many campers participated in the specials, including Brothers Joseph and Braxton who both sang.

Each service included an exhortation from God’s Word. One message urged those gathered to seek sanctification by reminding that God is holy and His Spirit will only dwell in a holy vessel. Another message spoke of the need for young people to be positive role models by God’s grace. A third encouraged all to stay positive while allowing God’s power to accomplish His work in each life. Every message inspired the campers to draw closer to God and was followed by a fruitful time of prayer.

Between services, everyone stayed busy enjoying the outdoors. The Bega Luncanilor River runs through the property, and several had fun swimming. Others went hiking or played volleyball, soccer, or board games. In addition, many found fellowship in cookouts and around the bonfire at night.

The camp meeting proved to be a great time of fellowship with God and His people.
