A five-day Easter Revival took place Wednesday through Sunday, April 1-5, in Uganda with the theme “Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary.” During the meetings, several received blessings from God, and a new leader for our work in Uganda was ordained and installed.

Our team visiting Southern Africa countries arrived in advance of the meetings on Monday, March 30. The travelers were John Musgrave, Director of Africa Work, with Onias Gumbo and Isaac Adigun, the district superintendents for Southern and Eastern Africa and Western and Central Africa respectively.

The next morning, the three attended a reception in their honor at the headquarters church in Tororo, where the special meetings would take place. They were greeted by Josephine Okpara, the Uganda District Superintendent, and presented with flowers by Sunday school students. The children then provided a program of songs. It began with the young choir singing enthusiastically, “Hallelujah, praise ye the Lord; Apostolic Faith is the name of our church, and we are very glad!” At the close of the program, everyone was treated to a reception meal of traditional Ugandan food.

On Wednesday, April 1, the revival meetings began in the prayer room. Then, to open the morning Bible teaching, a children’s program was presented. It featured a skit about people who carried burdens of sin but were invited to our services, were delivered, and left rejoicing. The first message was on “Salvation.” It brought out that salvation begins with repentance and faith, includes regeneration, and provides adoption into the family of God. The meeting concluded with a good time of prayer.

In the evening, the service included the formal installation of Denis Mandali as the new District Superintendent for Uganda. He is a Uganda Board Member who has served God faithfully with his wife, Sharon. The ministers gathered around him and asked God’s blessing and guidance over his service and family. As the service continued, the message was delivered by Brother Isaac. He preached from John 19:30 on “It is finished.” Using that declaration, he emphasized that the works of the enemy have been destroyed. When one surrenders to Christ, He removes sin and straightens out the past. Again, there was a wonderful response to the altar call.

The five-day campaign continued with morning teachings and evening evangelistic services. Throughout, there were about 100 in attendance, including many children. The congregational singing was done with enthusiasm, and the testimonies were inspiring. Earnest prayer followed every service, and by the close of the revival, many had received something from the Lord. Of the reported blessings, fourteen were saved, one was sanctified, and seven received a healing touch.

Upon leaving, the team of three said they counted it a tremendous privilege to fellowship with the Ugandan saints.
