Isaac Adigun, District Superintendent for West and Central Africa (WECA), arrived in Abidjan on January 15 accompanied by Okpo Johnson of the WECA Missions Department. The purpose of the trip was to facilitate the passing of the mantle of leadership for our work in the Ivory Coast. It had been led since 2010 by Kintin Georges, who passed on to glory Sunday, December 15, 2025.

A funeral was held for Brother Kintin on Saturday, January 17, in Abidjan. It was attended by delegates from Benin Republic, France, Ghana, Liberia, Mali, Niger Republic, Nigeria, Togo and across the Ivory Coast. In addition, people joined online from all over the globe. During the service, Brother Kintin’s faithful commitment to the Gospel was highlighted, bringing glory to God.

The same day, a ministers’ and workers’ meeting was held to announce a successor to Brother Kintin. Earlier, God’s will had been made clear as to who this should be. The Ivory Coast Board met and unanimously put forth the name of Konan Konan Joseph. This was the same man whose name God had laid on the hearts of the WECA board members and Missions leaders. In addition, he had the approval of the Portland headquarters board members. When his name was announced to the ministers and workers, they showed their support in unison.

The installation took place the next day, January 18, during the Sunday devotional service at the first branch church where Brother Kintin had pastored: Port Bouet, Abidjan. Brother Isaac presented Brother Konan to the congregation stating that he met the Biblical criteria for leadership and had served the church in various capacities. His wife and their six children were also introduced. Brother Isaac invited the congregation to show their support for the appointment by standing, and the nearly five hundred in attendance rose in unison.

Brother Konan was then prayed over with the laying on of hands by the ministers on the platform, including the board members. They petitioned God for blessings on his life, family, and ministry.

Brother Konan was given an opportunity to address the congregation, and he thanked God for the privilege to serve in this capacity. He also requested the prayers of everyone present for the ability to fulfill the assignment. Reading from Isaiah 54, he expressed optimism that God, who helped him serve in other capacities, will help him in this new role as leader of the work in the Ivory Coast. He also acknowledged the importance of upholding the Gospel standard and continuing the Great Commission.

After the service, Brother Isaac prayed for the Georges family that God would bless and keep them and then lunch was served to all foreign delegates. As everyone left for their respective countries, prayers went up for the furtherance of God’s Kingdom through the Ivory Coast work.
