The 2025 Malawi camp meeting took place July 27 to August 3 in Lunzu, Blantyre, where the headquarters church is located. Many delegates arrived a day early, coming from throughout Malawi as well as Lesotho, Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe to participate in a workers’ conference. The main session was titled “The Apostolic Faith Church” and focused on our origin, purpose, characteristics, and doctrines. Those present were encouraged to uphold the Apostolic Faith teachings, which have stood the test of time.
The music of the opening devotional service echoed the camp theme of Revelation 3:11, “Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.” Inspiring all to be ready for Christ’s return, the choir sang “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder” and an ensemble from Zambia sang in Chewa “I Can Almost Hear the Sound of the Trumpet.”
For the message, the Malawi District Superintendent Chris Nkhata captured the camp theme in a sermon titled “Holding Fast.” Reading from Revelation 3:11, he exhorted all to maintain their integrity in times of adversity as Job did. He said Job was rewarded for holding fast to his faith and the same will be true for others.
During the week, Bible teachings were held in the mornings, each focusing on a different foundational doctrine. In the afternoons, activities included youth services, a continuation of the workers’ conference, and a seminar for ministers’ wives on “Qualifications of the Minister’s Wife.”
In the evenings, evangelistic services pointed to Jesus while the sermons gave instruction for holding fast. The subjects of the messages were “Avoiding Spiritual Pollutants,” “Adhering to the True Vine,” “Two Questions Revealing the Value of Our Souls,” “A Spiritual Marketplace (where Jesus is the best customer who buys one’s sin and shame),” “Hear My Prayer, Oh Lord,” and “Seeking the Lord.”
Throughout the camp meeting, testimonies told of God’s power to save, keep, and heal. One woman said that an illness had left her blind, but when she received salvation, God also restored her sight. Since then, she has received sanctification and the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and she continues to enjoy the blessings of God. A man from Salime testified that he came to Blantyre looking for work. When he saw the sign, “Jesus, the Light of the World,” over our church, he was intrigued. He attended and was happy to find people who worship God in spirit and in truth. Now he is a regular among the congregation. Another man said that he had been religious, but had no power over sin, so his homelife was contentious. Then, in 1988, he heard that he must repent and forsake his sins. He did and God saved him, transforming his heart and bringing peace to his home.
On Saturday, a wonderful time of fellowship was experienced as the ordinances of the Lord’s Supper and foot washing were observed. Then, in the evening, a concert in the Chewa language brought delight to all who attended. It began with the orchestra playing “Praise Ye the Lord,” followed by the brass playing “He Lives on High.” The brass also played a local song titled “Amayenda Ndi Yesu Amaoneka,” which translates to “One Who Walks with Christ Can Be Identified.” The concert also included choir songs and vocal ensembles, closing with “Nearer My God to Thee” and an invitation to pray.
On the closing Sunday, the morning message was given by Boniface Banda, the Zambia District Superintendent, on “The Lord Is My Shepherd.” Taking his text from Psalm 23, he explained that Jesus is the Good Shepherd who guides, protects, and provides for His own. He urged all to look to Jesus and hold fast to the faith as they return to their respective localities. By all accounts, everyone went away with renewed resolve and joy in their hearts.
