Christmas greetings from Reverend Sola Adesope

Another Christmas is here—another reminder that even in a world filled with troubling headlines, unexpected crises, and uncertainties, the light of God still breaks through. It can often feel as though bad news spreads faster than ever, leaving hearts weary, nations unsettled, and many wondering what tomorrow may bring. Yet this moment in history is not so different from the night when the shepherds first heard the angelic announcement recorded in Luke 2:8–20.

The shepherds lived under the shadow of the Roman Empire, in a land shaken by a census that uprooted families and stirred an entire nation. I imagine crowded streets, tired travelers, and emotions running high. Their world must have felt unstable—much like ours can today.

And it was into that very uncertainty that an angel appeared with a message strong enough to steady any trembling heart:

“Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” – Luke 2:10–11

What a powerful proclamation! At a time when oppression was heavy and hope felt distant, God sent news that would change the world forever. In the middle of chaos, He offered peace. During a time of fear, He brought joy. And at a moment when humanity had little to look forward to, God sent His Son to save the world from sin.

This Christmas, no matter what your personal world looks like—whether steady or shaken—may you be encouraged by that same message. Jesus Christ, the Savior, has come. The message of Christmas is not simply a story from long ago; it is a living reminder that God is with us (Emmanuel), even today. He has stepped into our darkness with the light of hope, healing, and God’s gift of salvation.

If you have not yet embraced this gift, may this season inspire you to discover the life-changing salvation found in Christ. God offers you a joy that is strong, steady, and lasting.

If you have already received this salvation, may your heart be strengthened by the angel’s words: “fear not” and “good tidings of great joy.” This Christmas, let your faith be renewed. Let the joy of the Lord be your strength. For the message of Christmas is still God’s answer to a broken world: good tidings of great joy in every season and through every storm.

May the peace of Christ reign in your heart, and may the hope of His coming fill your home with joy. May the Lord bless you, keep you, and cause His face to shine upon you, today and always.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
