On November 20, all who attended the Sunday morning service enjoyed a spiritual feast at our Thanksgiving service. The orchestra prelude presented “Give Thanks Doxology” and the combined choir (pictured above) followed with “Anthem of Praise.” Those in the congregation sang, “Come Ye Thankful People Come,” “We are So Blessed,” and other songs of worship and thanksgiving to the Lord.
The Scripture lesson was chosen from Luke 17:11-19. In this text, ten lepers were healed of leprosy but only one returned to show his appreciation to Jesus. Scripture records that he glorified God, and fell down on his face at Jesus feet giving him thanks. What an example of true thankfulness!
Pastor Dave Lambert delivered the morning message about “A Grateful Heart.” He emphasized Psalm 33:1, “Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.” He made mention that it is near impossible to truly praise God unless you are truly righteous. He also pointed out that when the reality of salvation takes hold on a new convert, the result is genuine praise and appreciation coming from our heart.
