07-23-2021 — Baccalaureate Service

On Friday, July 23, the congregation gathered to celebrate this year’s high school and college graduates. The graduates included Angela Lucescu, Patrick Lee, Annika Ewers, Marcus Luka, Jackson Parker, Cheyenna Hall, Sam Asaya, Naomi Buliga, Joseph Buliga, Maya Nedelcu, Debbie Hinkle, and Clark Wolfe.

The service began with a Scripture reading and a prayer. Following that, graduate Marcus played a trombone solo titled “Indescribable with ‘Praise Him! Praise Him!’” followed by a girls’ vocal ensemble comprised of graduates Maya, Angela, Cheyenna, and Annika singing “Take My Life.”

Throughout the service, the congregation sang a few songs about praise and giving glory to God, and several graduates spoke of their experiences in school. Sam testified about how the Lord has helped him throughout high school, and especially during the pandemic. He gave thanks to God for helping him transition to online learning. Angela testified that she was thankful the Lord saved and sanctified her before she was in high school. She said that even though she didn’t have many friends in high school because of her beliefs, God was with her.

The girls’ group sang “Christ Is Enough” before Patrick testified. He thanked the Lord for saving and sanctifying him and helping him get through high school. He spoke about how God helped him identify his interests and gave him opportunities and jobs to help with college tuition. Following that, Maya gave her testimony. She talked about God’s faithfulness in her life and how God allowed her to go to a Christian high school where she could learn from a Christian perspective. Joseph Buliga also testified, thanking God that he was raised in a Christian home and for bringing him through high school even though it wasn’t always easy. He said that even though the pandemic was hard in many ways, one good aspect was that it allowed him to work while he was going to school.

The last special was a solo by Sam singing “The Gospel of Grace.” The service concluded with a slideshow with photos of each graduate. The service in the sanctuary was followed by dessert in the Fellowship Lodge—delicious fresh peach and strawberry shortcake. We are very thankful for each of the graduates, and thankful to God for helping them with their accomplishments!
