03-05-2022 – Saturday Youth Focus

A day of youth activities took place on Saturday, March 5, during the Winter Tabernacles Meetings. The morning started with a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, fruit, and frosted pretzel bites.

Following the meal was a time for prayer. Then Nathaniel Hunsu, visiting from our church in Athens, Georgia, presented a lesson about being focused in the Gospel. He commented that it is trendy among young people to want to be an “influencer,” but the best influence one can have is to lead others to Christ. It is also trendy to take up political and social causes, but Christians must be committed first and foremost to the cause of Christ. Brother Nathaniel also said that rather than wondering how close one can get to sinning without actually committing sin, our focus should be how close we can draw to God. He used an analogy of asking how close to a moving train the young people would want to be. Not very close! A moving train is dangerous, and sin is much more dangerous, so we should stay as far away from sin as possible.

Brother Nathaniel closed by talking about how Satan would like to use questions and doubts to distract young people from seeking the Lord. He encouraged the group to surrender their thoughts to the Lord so they will not be confused or deceived by the enemy. The morning activity concluded with another time for prayer and then singing led by Caleb Copko.

After the youth focus, the young people could choose from a number of activities to participate in, including group games and basketball in the gym. It was a fun and informative morning!
