Finding Religious Freedom

I was born across the ocean in the country of Romania. While I lived there, the people who ruled our country were very controlling. Our leader did not give us the freedom of religion that we have in America. He did not like Christians or their beliefs. I was not raised in a Christian home, but when I was young, my parents were saved. I started going to church with them, and I gave my heart to Jesus. It was very scary living in Romania as a Christian. When I prayed I was scared that someone might hear me and I would get in trouble with the government.

When I grew a little older, I was in the Romanian army. Because of my faith in God I was not treated fairly. I remember once, my commander called me in his office and questioned me about my faith. God was there and gave me the right words to answer.

God gave me a good Christian wife, and we began a family in Romania. Living without religious freedom was hard, but then God helped us to come to this wonderful country. How we enjoy the freedom in America! We found the Apostolic Faith Church and felt very welcome. Now we have a wonderful opportunity to worship the Lord just as we wish.

Things changed in Romania after the 1989 revolution, but people in many other countries still do not have freedom to serve God. We should all thank God for the privilege we have to live in this wonderful country. We need to pray that our freedom will be protected and that God will bless our country.
