Father's Day Celebration Ideas

Take a camera walk. Purchase or make a photo album for Dad and present him with it on Father’s Day. Then, set out to fill it. Go to a picturesque location (beach, park, river, etc.) and take snapshots of each other throughout the day. Bring a Frisbee, ball, game, lunch, and of course, a camera! Afterward, go to an hour photo-developing lab (shop or have ice cream while you wait), and then fill the album.

Put on a play. Write a play with your children about a funny thing that happened to their father. On Father’s Day morning, set up Dad as the audience (of one) with coffee and his favorite breakfast, and present him with a homemade program. Let the show begin!

Make a memory book. Before Father’s Day, brainstorm funny stories, or favorite memories about time spent with Dad. Have the children put the tales in writing (or take dictation if they’re too young to write), illustrate their narration, and make a cover. Laminate the cover at a copy shop.

Hold a ceremony. Pack a picnic and find a special outdoor spot. After lunch, present Dad with a medal made by the kids and a certificate of appreciation for a job well done.

Make Dad a special cake. Click here to view special decorating instructions.

Give a Party in a Bottle. This can be tailored to suit any occasion. Obtain a clean, dry two-liter soda bottle and put a little hot glue at the opening to secure the lid. Lay the bottle on its side and cut a flap out of the middle just large enough to place items inside. Insert brightly colored tissue paper for a backdrop, and then add the gifts.  - Gift ideas might include: Specialty soaps and shaving utensils. For cooks, fill it with a small cookbook, interesting cooking utensil such as a garlic press or small grater, unique bottled sauces, cooking oils, or spices. For chocoholics, fill it with cookies, candies and hot cocoa packets. For fishermen, the bottle could be filled with an assortment of fishing lures, a paperback book, a packet of mosquito repellent, and a disposable rain slicker. Finish the bottle by stuffing a little more tissue paper inside and placing the flap back in place and sealing the bottle with clear packing tape. Stick on a mailing label and send it as is, or give it in person.

Gifts From Wives For Father’s Day.

  • Kidnap him from work and play hooky. Go to an amusement park or pack a picnic lunch.
  • Hand him cash to spend that he didn’t earn.
  • Send him to a men’s retreat.
  • Surprise him with a sparkling clean car and an oil change.
  • Give him a day alone to do what he wants.
  • Save up for that expensive gift he wants.
  • Let him plan an evening out—with you!
  • Surprise him with an evening in.

Frame a poem for your dad.

Use this poem, or write your own.

What is a Dad?

A dad is a person
Who is loving and kind,
And often he knows
What you have on your mind.
He’s someone who listens,
Suggests and defends,
A dad can be one
Of your very best friends!
He’s proud of your triumphs,
But when things go wrong,
A dad can be patient
And helpful and strong.
In all that you do,
A dad’s love plays a part
There’s always a place for him
Deep in your heart.
And each year that passes
You’re even more glad,
More grateful and proud
Just to call him your dad!

Happy Father’s Day!
