Do
you want practical direction on how you can live a happy, fulfilled
life? Do you need answers for the problems you face? Are you interested
in learning more of the Bible and how it can
impact living in our world? Are you concerned about how to prepare
for life after death? If you answered yes to any of these questions,
then Sunday school is for you!
Here at the Apostolic Faith Church, we meet every Sunday at 9:30
a.m. for our Sunday school sessions. We begin with an opening assembly
in the sanctuary, where we sing several children’s songs together.
Following prayer and announcements, a child or small group representing
one of our Sunday school departments presents a vocal or instrumental
number. Then the various age groups are dismissed to their separate
departments, where each group enjoys songs, class time, and other
activities.
Classes for all ages
Sunday school at the Apostolic Faith Church offers something for the whole
family. Classes and curriculum are tailored to the needs of students of every
age group, with an emphasis on the life-changing power in Jesus Christ. So
whether you are young or old, as you meet with others to study the Bible, you
will be informed, encouraged, and inspired.
Beginners Department — Children
two years of age through kindergarten. This department
is located on the ground floor, on the west side of the
main sanctuary.
Primary Department
— Children in first through
third grades. This department meets on the second floor, at the
top of the back stairs and through the double doors to the left.
Junior Department — Children in fourth through seventh
grades. This department meets on the second floor, at the top of
the back stairs and through the door to the right.
Eighth Grade and High School — Each grade meets in
a separate classroom along the perimeter of the main sanctuary,
in classrooms A through H. Ask an usher to direct you to the appropriate
area.
Young Adult class — This group meets in a perimeter
classroom.
Women’s class — This class is for women of all
ages and meets in the nursery annex located on the ground floor,
across the hall from the Beginners Department. This class was initially
for women with small infants or toddlers who were beginning Sunday
school in the Beginners Department. While it has been expanded to
include all ages, mothers with young babies or toddlers may bring
them to class.
Men’s classes — The men’s Sunday school
class meets in the church activity room. A variety of ages, professions,
and walks of life are represented, and there is active class participation
as they study God’s Word and fellowship together.
Senior classes — These classes meet in the youth chapel
on the east side of the building, and in the prayer room area just
off the hallway behind the sanctuary platform.
Dedicated teaching staff
Like a pebble dropped into a quiet lake,
the effects of reaching a person with the message
of salvation can be dramatic and far-reaching. With
that thought in mind, our Sunday school teachers
have made a commitment to the personal encouragement
and instruction of
their students. Teachers meet on a monthly basis
to study upcoming lessons, share ideas for teaching
resources, and learn new presentation techniques.
Curriculum
The curriculum materials used in our Sunday school were written and printed
by our own staff. Sunday school steering committees have been in place for
more than fifty years, writing and rewriting, designing and redesigning, in
order to keep our materials up-to-date, Biblical, and attractive. Each set
of curriculum is age appropriate.
Related activities
Our Sunday school teachers make an effort to involve themselves in their students’ lives
for more than just one hour a week. Class outings and group activities are
a regular part of their time investment. High-school students enjoy prayer
breakfasts, gym nights, and retreats at various times during the year, as well
as involvement in church services and outreach endeavors.
