Featured Branch:
Port Angeles, Washington

The Apostolic Faith Church in Port Angeles, Washington, dates back to 1908. A group of people who were worshipping together in that city received an early publication from the Apostolic Faith headquarters in Portland, Oregon. They agreed with what they read in the periodical and wrote to Portland, requesting more information and possible affiliation. They willingly embraced the Bible doctrines as outlined by the Apostolic Faith organization, and were extended full fellowship with the headquarters church.

A few of the grandchildren of the original members of the Port Angeles church still live and worship in the local church. However, it is not uncommon to meet a relative of one of the original members who has located in another Apostolic Faith church somewhere throughout the United States.

The church members worshipped in different temporary locations for the first thirty years in Port Angeles. In 1938, the local group, assisted by volunteer labor from neighboring churches of the organization, erected the present place of worship at 221 West 8th Street. The project took only 37 days, from the time of groundbreaking until completion. Excavation of the basement was by pick and shovel, and the soil was hauled to dump trucks by wheelbarrow. All the cement was hand mixed and all the labor was donated. Building the church created a real interest among the citizens of Port Angeles. The construction went so fast that many people of the town would drive by in the evening to see what had been accomplished that day.

May 15, 1938 was dedication date for the then-new house of worship. One of the unique features of the Apostolic Faith churches is that no collections are ever taken. This feature was established from the beginning of the Apostolic Faith in Portland, Oregon, in 1907.

The Reverend Jack Chasteen with his wife, Wendy, is the present pastor of the Port Angeles church. Their schedule of services includes the Sunday services with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m., morning worship at 11:00 a.m.; and an evening evangelistic service at 6:00 p.m. Bible study is held on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. A welcome is extended to all. Directions to the church available here.
