Faithful Saints in the Jungles of Argentina

After attending a leadership conference and revival meetings in Chile, Sam Ajayi and Rey Richardson traveled to Argentina to spend several days encouraging our church people there. Brother Sam sent this report:

The Apostolic Faith Church people in Misiones, Argentina, are a dedicated and conscientious group. No wonder they could hold faithfully on their own for over fifty years to the doctrines of the Bible which were taught to them by Brother Forrest Damron. There is no way one would be in their midst and not be deeply moved by their sacrifices and devotion.

We have already visited and held services in three churches: Pirilen, Alberdi, and Isolina. It is amazing how they keep the church buildings so clean; one could kneel on the floors without encountering a speck of dust. There have been some marked changes since my first visit in April of last year. The “Jesus the Light of the World” logo has been placed on more of the churches and altar benches are in them. It is very pleasing to see how people come to the front to pray no matter when they get to church. They have also added a powerful PA system, which sends music and the service through the expansive tea fields and the jungle where these churches are located. The service on Thursday at Isolina had a crowd that overflowed the church and many stood outside listening.

image The music and songs in these churches are simply glorious, and they have added a small harp to their collection of musical instruments of a keyboard, guitars, and an accordion. When the children present their songs, it is very moving.

image In these church locations, there are no paved roads, no sidewalks, no homes of any particular description. Instead, dusty dirt roads wind their way through the jungle and tea fields. When it is dark, it is really pitch dark. Yet, these people come to church night after night at the end of days of very tiring physical labor. They all come nicely dressed and happy. They sing, worship, and pray. At the end of the service, it is always a moving sight to watch them go home in the darkness of the night by foot, motorcycle, or wagon. These people are amazing!

Brother Sam and Brother Rey plan to participate in four more services before beginning the journey home on Monday. Please keep the South American work in your prayers, that the Lord would continue to lead in that area.
